Delete your Instagram account
When you delete your account, your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers will be permanently deleted. If you only want to take a break, you can temporarily disable your account.
After your account is terminated, you can sign up again with the same username or add this username to another account as long as it is taken by a new person on Instagram.
Note that if your account has been removed due to Community Guidelines violations, you may not be able to sign up again with the same username.
To request the permanent delete of your Instagram account:
Before deleting your account, you will want to log in and download a copy of your information (such as your photos and posts) from Instagram. Once your account is created, you will no longer have access to Instagram's data download tool.
How do I delete my Instagram account?
- Go to: Delete your account from your mobile browser or computer page. If you are not logged in to Instagram on the web, you will be prompted to log in first. You should not delete your account from the Instagram application.
- Select an option from the drop-down menu because you are deleting your account. And re-enter your password. The option to permanently delete your account will only appear after selecting a reason from your menu.
- Click or tap Delete [username].
- Delete your Instagram account.

How do I temporarily disable my Instagram account?
If you disable your account temporarily, your profile, photos, comments, and likes will be hidden until you log in and re-enable it. You can only disable your Instagram account from a computer or mobile browser.
To temporarily disable your account:

- From the computer, log in to instagram.com. You cannot temporarily disable your account from within the Instagram app.
- Click on your profile picture in the upper right and then click on Profile, then click Edit Profile.
- Scroll down, then click Deactivate My Account temporarily at the bottom right.
- Select an option next to the drop-down menu because you are disabling your account. And re-enter your password. The option to disable your account will only appear after selecting a reason from your menu and entering your password.
- Click Disable Account Temporarily.
Temporarily disable my Instagram account from a mobile browser
You will need to be logged into your account to temporarily disable it. If you don't remember your password or username, see some suggestions for logging in.
If you do not want to disable your account but want to change who can see it, you can block your posts from private or people.
